He filled my days
With endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came.
And still I dream he'll come to me

나에겐 꿈이 있었지요.
나에게 꿈이 있었지요. 지나간 시절에.
희망은 드높았고 인생은 살만했어요.
결코 사라지지 않을 사랑을 꿈꾸었고.
하나님이 용서하실 그런 꿈도 가졌지요.
그땐 젊었고 겁도 없었어요.
무슨 꿈이든 이루어졌고 모든 일에 사용했고
그리고 헛되이 낭비되었지요.
치루어야할 댓가도 없었거든요.
노래도 마음껏 부르고 술도 마음껏 마셨지요.
그런데
어느날 밤 호랑이가 들이 닥쳤어요.
부드럽지만, 우뢰와 같은 울부짖음으로
우리의 희망을 갈갈이 찢어놓았고
우리의 꿈을 치욕으로 만들었지요.
하지만,
그꿈이 이루어질 거라고 아직은 믿는답니다.
우리가 세월과 더불어 살아가노라면 말이죠.
물론, 이루어지지 않을 꿈도 있어요.
우리가 잠재우지 못할 폭풍우도 있고요.
내생애에 이루고 싶은 꿈이 있었어요.
내가 살아가는 이런 지옥같은 세상과 너무도 다른
그럴 듯해 보이는 세상과 너무나도 다른 꿈이 있었지요.
지금 내가 살아가는 삶은 그토록 바라던 그 꿈을
산산조각 내버렸습니다.
